In this study, we found that forehead cooling elicits a sympathetically-mediated pressor response and a reduction in coronary blood flow velocity and this effect was augmented under beta-adrenergic blockade with propranolol. The results are consistent with sympathetic activation of beta-receptor coronary vasodilation in humans, as has been demonstrated in animals.
Beta-adrenergic blockade enhances coronary vasoconstrictor response to forehead cooling.
